The possibilities are often the justification we, as designers, give ourselves for all those late nights and obsessive thoughts. Possibility is the hat that keeps us inspired, and realization is what keeps us moving. Detail is the challenge that connects the two. Many of these solutions have emerged from hard-fought battles and persuasive designers doing whatever we can to progress our possibilities.

Editorial Design
Client: Ministry of Environment Colombia CDA Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the North and East of the Amazon rainforest.
Title: Ornamental Fish Atlas Of The Inirida River Basin. Medium: Print and digital.
Software: Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel draw.
Project Goal: a book centered on the different varieties of ornamental fish found in the middle and lower conflux of the Inirida River in Colombia.
This is a book of 100 pages, printed offset, with about 10.000 copies made. The book was printed to be used as a reference, and distributed between libraries across the country. This was done to create a database of the marine life in the river. I was responsible for designing the cover, choosing the fonts from a database, organizing the layout throughout, retouching the images provided digitally, and choosing colors for use. I chose to display an enlarged image of a fish spread over both the back and front covers of the book, as the idea was that, if you open it up, you’ll see the whole fish. This reflects the informative nature of the book and the content inside plus special UV treathment. I chose the font I did as we wanted something clear, and within budget for the client. Inside, I chose to display one fish per page throughout, because the budget allowed for this, and I felt it was the best way to convey the visual information to readers about each specimen.

Problems Overcome: Gathering the information we needed to complete the book was a difficulty, at times. I was located in a remote area while working on the project and the marine biologists working with me had to travel to gather specimen photos. Bringing them back for use could take time. In order to get all my projects done, I communicated with my manager and worked on various other projects while I was waiting for the photos to arrive, essentially multitasking on various works at once
